Alarm Management
Global Network Operations has the capability to monitor any network device – The use of alarm monitoring equipment and systems depends on the Customers requirements.
Option 1- Deploy client OSS software from the Customers own systems – GNO would just use it to monitor services, alarms and collect performance data.
Option 2- Deploys generic “ off the shelf “ management platforms that are able to collects MIB’s from Network Elements , ie HP OpenView , Solar Winds , Nagios etc….
GNO has Customers using either option to enable monitoring of the Service Providers network.
GNO has also developed some in house software to manage some network elements , this capability is specifically developed to look at Class 4 voice switch nodes, see also Legacy Switching.
Alarm Management Process:
GNO have staff dedicated to monitoring alarms 24 x 7 x 365 – Once an alarm is generated the shift engineers acknowledge the alarm, determine its severity and then take the appropriate actions.
- Log the fault to the TT system and when requested in the Customers TT system
- Acknowledge the Alarm on the system, effectively removing any audio alarms and changing status of alarm to acknowledged
- Proactively begin the process of alarm resolution
- When required call on 3rd parties to assist
- When required begin escalation procedures
Alarm management activity can be incorporated into Service Level Agreements that Customers have in place with GNO.
